In my drawing practice I got used to use only black, grey and white. But I always wanted to try colors. I don't know why, but I'm afraid of them. When I saw this reference, at once this idea came to my mind. I like the combination of color accents and black/white. So this is also my first experience (did I say that I like to experiment?) with using colors in drawing. This was really difficult, especially when I have to turn my attention from one color to another. I need more practice. I'm really proud of this drawing, because I wonder how she was becoming alive step by step. These eyes are just looking through your soul. It makes me want to say: "Don't hide from the reality...".
I used: - reference picture - the cover of the magazine "Vokrug sveta" № 2 2009; - my imagination; - regular and mechanical graphite pencils, graphite stick, coloured pencils; - kneadable eraser; - q-tips, blending sticks, cotton puds; - Fabriano Accademia drawing paper A4.
Svetlana ~ I think this is my favorit in your gallery. I love the bright green color of her hijab next to the B&W of her skin. Very visually stimulating. Exquisite detail and quite stunning. :^)
Thanks a lot for your support! Now I also like colour and like using it, even if I don't use it so often. I'm drawing by watercolours at my drawing classes and really having fun.
It's strange that Fabriano is rare in Spain. It's italian paper and I thought that it's popular in your country. I only once tried to draw on the black paper ("Lullaby for you") and it's also was Fabriano black paper.)))
I went also throught the step of using only black and white and i got the chance to meet somebody who challenged me using color. And he was right
+fav!
I saw your drawings and I like how you draw on the black paper. Didn't you use another colour paper?
Thank you so much!))
